This policy explains how we use technology, what we guarantee, and what we will never do.
How do we use AI and automation in our journalism?
Digital tools may assist with research, formatting, translation, transcription, metadata, headline options and summarisation. For example, a reporter might use an AI tool to transcribe an interview or to generate background notes on a complex policy debate. The human writer then verifies every fact and refines the output before it moves to the editorial desk.
AI-assisted drafting is permissible only when a named journalist remains the primary author and checks all content for accuracy. Automated translation tools help us reach international readers, but a human editor reviews every translated article to ensure the nuance of the original Swedish reporting is preserved. No automated system decides what we cover or how we frame a story.
What is the human guarantee?
Every article is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor and fact-checked before publication. Chefredaktör Daniel Simon is ultimately responsible for editorial standards and publication decisions. The fact-checking team, led by Christina Scholz, verifies sources and data independently. AI tools may support these processes, but human approval is non-negotiable for every piece of editorial content.
Our editorial mission — trustworthy Swedish journalism that helps readers understand complex issues without spin or oversimplification — depends on human judgement. We name writers and editors on every article so accountability is clear. The team, listed on our Our Team page, includes specialists in politics, economy, culture and fact-checking who apply their expertise at each stage.
What is strictly prohibited?
AI must never fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles. We do not allow any tool to generate content that pretends to be from a person who does not exist or to claim expertise that has not been verified. Every source cited in our reporting must be real and independently confirmable.
We also prohibit the use of AI to generate opinion pieces or analysis without a human author’s substantive contribution. Sponsored or commercial material, clearly labelled as such, follows the same rule: human oversight applies regardless of how the content is funded. What you can expect from us
You can expect that every article you read on Wirtschaftsquelle has been produced by real journalists who stand by their work. Technology helps us work more efficiently — for instance, by speeding up research or improving accessibility — but it never dictates editorial conclusions. Our funding, derived from display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships and content licensing, never determines what we report or how we report it. If we discover an error, we correct it promptly and transparently, following our Corrections Policy. Our Editorial Policy and Fact-Checking Policy outline the standards we hold ourselves to. We welcome scrutiny from readers because accountability is the foundation of trust.
