Wirtschaftsquelle (wirtschaftsquelle.de) treats editorial accuracy as the foundation of trustworthy journalism. When we publish something that is wrong, we correct it promptly, transparently, and with the same care that went into the original story. This Corrections Policy sets out the principles that guide how we identify, verify, and fix errors, and it explains exactly how readers can report a mistake to us.
How do I report an error to Wirtschaftsquelle?
If you spot a mistake in any article, the fastest route is to email our dedicated corrections desk. Send details to corrections@wirtschaftsquelle.de and include the headline, the URL or publication date, and a clear description of what you believe is wrong. You can also use the general contact form at info@wirtschaftsquelle.de and mark the subject line “Correction.” Every report is logged and assigned a unique reference number so we can track its progress.
Who handles corrections at the newsroom?
All reported errors are triaged by the standards desk, which sits within the fact-checking unit. Christina Scholz, Ansvarig för faktagranskning, leads that team and is the first person to assess every correction request. She reviews the original source material, the reporter’s notes, and the editor’s file before deciding what action is needed. If the mistake is minor — a typo, a date, a misspelled name — the desk can approve a fix directly. For material errors that affect the meaning of a story, the decision is escalated to Daniel Simon, Chefredaktör.
What counts as a material error?
We distinguish between routine slip-ups and material errors. A routine slip-up is a formatting glitch, a transposed figure in a table, or a naming mistake that does not change the article’s conclusion. Those are fixed in the text with a silent update. A material error is something that could mislead a reader about a central fact: a wrong statistic, a misattributed quote, a reversed vote result, or a headline that no longer matches the body. For every material error, we add a visible correction note at the top of the article that states what was wrong, what the correct information is, and the date of the change. The original version is never deleted; we preserve an archive copy for transparency.
How quickly will Wirtschaftsquelle respond?
Our target is an initial acknowledgment within two business hours during the working week. For straightforward errors, we aim to publish a correction within 24 hours. For complex claims that need source verification or legal review, we may take up to five business days. If we need longer, we send an interim update to the person who reported the error and to any affected parties. If a reader is not satisfied with our response, they can ask Daniel Simon to review the case directly at the publisher’s level. His contact is anders.lindqvist@wirtschaftsquelle.de.
What you can expect from us
You can expect that every correction is handled by a named human editor, not an automated system. Christina Scholz and her team keep a permanent log of every correction, and that log is reviewed quarterly by the editorial board. We do not hide corrections behind a paywall or require a login to see them. We also publish a monthly summary of corrections on our Corrections Policy page so that readers can see the pattern. If the same error appears in a syndicated feed or a newsletter, we correct those channels at the same time. Sponsored content and affiliate articles are held to exactly the same standard; if a commercial partner’s piece contains an error, we fix it or label it clearly.
How this policy links to other editorial standards
This corrections process sits alongside our wider Editorial Policy, which sets the rules for sourcing, bias, and anonymity. Our Fact-Checking Policy explains how Christina Scholz and her team verify claims before publication, and our Complaints Procedure is the route for readers who feel a correction was handled unfairly or not at all. We also link to Our Story page so readers can see the ownership structure behind Wirtschaftsquelle.
